Student Ministry Mission Trip - Houston, Texas

Dear Parents and Students,

This year we have partnered with an organization called CSM (Center for Student Missions) for our mission trip to Houston, Texas. CSM was started in 1988, by Ridge and Robanne Burns, who stepped out in faith to create an organization that would focus on building bridges from the suburbs to the urban centers in the United States. Their focus is on giving youth groups and churches a life changing short term urban experience.

CSM will help us “experience” a city. Living firsthand among the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of urban life is an irreplaceable experience. Our housing is located in the heart of Houston, providing you with the opportunity for us to eat at local ethnic restaurants and discover the delights of Salvadorian, Middle Eastern, Filipino, African–American, and other cuisine.

CSM will help us “learn” a city. There are unique issues and problems that each city faces. There are also unique and incredible things God is doing to foster and further His Kingdom in each city, through the indigenous organizations that operate on the front lines of urban ministry. We will learn what city dwellers face, and how to overcome challenging circumstances.

CSM will help us “help” a city.  At CSM, you become part of the solution for a city. By offering your time, energy, and prayers, ministry sites are supported and built up to their full potential of service. You will be integrated into a variety of hands-on ministry opportunities to ensure that your time is spent supplying substantive help to God’s people in the city.

If you are interested in going on this trip, please fill out this brief application and hand it in with a $125.00 deposit. For this trip we will be taking 10 students and 4 adults.

General Information:

Who – Open to all rising 7th graders through graduating seniors.

Where – Houston, Texas (we will be flying out of Charleston, SC)

When – Sunday, July 23rd through Friday, July 28th

Total Cost - $125.00 Per Student - Mission Team will raise an additional $6,000 together as a team.

- Eric will seek remaining ($4,558) from PG Outreach, Plantation Tours and youth budget.

Key Dates:

Sunday, April 30th – Registration Deadline and Deposit Due

Sunday, May 21st – Mission Trip Meeting for both Parents and Students / 9:00 AM

Sunday, June 4th – Final Names into Airline/Fellowship Travel Agent

June and July – Fundraisers (Car Wash, Church Breakfast and Envelope Wall)
