Priority
Jesus has priorities in His ministry, and
preaching was top of the list. We need to share His priority and the
church is in danger if we don't.
|
|
Wise
up
The character of God is constant. We cannot
stand in His holy presence - we need a mediator - Jesus, that we
might stand at last.
|
|
Called
to love
Whether the Lord calls us to go or stay, He
wants us to share His love and the good news of salvation with those
around us.
|
|
Answering
God's call
The Lord calls to us, just as he did Samuel in
the Old Testament and Nathaniel in the New Testament. We need to
here His call, answer and follow where He leads. It is a call for a
lifetime, not just an event.
|
|
Quit
the resolutions
God created us so that we are dependant on Him.
Resolutions to change are futile. We need the Holy Spirit living in
us to change us.

God's
wild promises
However wild the promises might seem God keeps
his promises, and we can really on Him.
|
|
Keep
moving
Unless you keep your Christian life moving, you
will fall off. the Apostle Peter summarized it "Grow in grace
and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ"
|
|
Watch
- Be ready!
Satan's plan for South Carolinians - There's no
hurry. Jesus command - Watch and be ready.

|
Really?
If we say we believe Jesus rose from the dead
(the most amazing and difficult 'miracle'), then why do we have such
a problem with other miracles accounts? If it's not true, we are to
be pitied above all people, but if it's true, we need to believe it
all!

Hope
comes hard
Hope came hard to the disciples on Easter
morning, and comes hard to many of us as we pass through suffering
and loss. But Jesus was and is risen in power, so if we will only
give Him the hard things in our lives and surrender to Him, he will
fill us with hope that nothing can touch.

Gratitude
and entitlement
There is a stark contrast between the
entitlement attitude of God's "chosen people" as they
complain that there perceived needs are not being met (despite their
experience of God's providence), and the humble gratitude to Jesus
of the Samaritan woman at the well, knowing she is entitled to
nothing but willing to receive forgiveness and eternal life.

Be
prepared!
We need to be prepared for the future. We know
that Christ will return and we need to be prepared for it ourselves,
and be preparing other for it too, as we share the Good News. We do
not know the day or the hours - we need to be prepared now!

Enduring till
He comes
Jesus is coming back and when he does it will be quick. We are to endure as the widow in Luke
18: 1-8. Our endurance will not be easy. We will need to wrestle with God and His Word to become true witnesses of Christ and his truth even in the face of injustice. When Jesus returns, will he find faith on the earth?

What
love looks like
Love is an unconditional commitment to the best
interest of the beloved. Love remains the same, but it's expression
changes with circumstance; love shown to a baby is very differently
expressed than to a teenager or a spouse. So it is with God's love.
It is constant and overwhelming but is expressed in different ways,
depending on our response to God.

We
need a Trinitarian God
Whilst it would make no sense to 'create'
a Trinitarian god, this is what we need, and this is what God
is. Beyond the mystery of how one God can be three persons, we need
a Holy and righteous Father, Jesus who was prepared to die to take
away our sins and the Holy Spirit to give us new life and sustain
us.

Prayer
for all occasions - 9am
The Bible is full of prayers for all occasions
and the Lord gives us plenty of opportunities to pray. Are we
willing to engage with Him in prayer?
A
church that will storm the gates of hell? - 11am
Jesus promised Peter that on his confession
that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, He would build His church
and the gates of hell will not stand against it. We need to
understand that if we confess Christ and trust Him for everything,
we will be built into a church which will storm the gates of hell.

Complacency
is dangerous
Complacency on a human level can lead to
disasters such as the huge loss of life when the 'unsinkable'
Titanic sank with not enough lifeboats for the majority of
passengers. More serious still is the spiritual complacency which
means we don't warn others, or heed the warning ourselves of the
impending disaster of not trusting in Christ.

Are
you prepared?
The scriptures which refer to the end of time
may appear puzzling in their detail, but their message is clear: the
end is coming (we don't know when), it wont be pleasant for all
(Jesus says there will be a division of those who He knows), and we
had better be ready. Only faith in what Christ has done for us will
get us through.

The
truth can hurt
The truth often hurts. It was painful for Peter
to have Jesus tell him to 'get behind me Satan' , and if we honestly
examine ourselves in the light of James writing, it will become
painfully clear that we often show partiality. At first sight
hearing Jesus say we must take up our cross to follow Him is also a
painful truth, but the good news is that's the way which leads to
life.
