Enduring till He comes

Jesus is coming back and when he does it will be quick. We are to endure as the widow in Luke 18: 1-8. Our endurance will not be easy. We will need to wrestle with God and His Word to become true witnesses of Christ and his truth even in the face of injustice. When Jesus returns, will he find faith on the earth?

What love looks like

Love is an unconditional commitment to the best interest of the beloved. Love remains the same, but it's expression changes with circumstance; love shown to a baby is very differently expressed than to a teenager or a spouse. So it is with God's love. It is constant and overwhelming but is expressed in different ways, depending on our response to God.

Complacency on a human level can lead to disasters such as the huge loss of life when the 'unsinkable' Titanic sank with not enough lifeboats for the majority of passengers. Mark 7: 31 - 37

Love and obedience

After Jesus had displayed the love and power of God through great miracles the Pharisees could only criticize the disciples for not keeping the traditions of the elders. They had failed to understand that the law given by God through Moses was a call to obey God as an outworking of true love for God.

The blood of Christ - what, why and how

Only the blood of Christ can cleanse us, only the blood of Christ gives us life, and if we shrink back from Jesus 'hard saying' that we must drink His blood, where else could we go, except back to our old way of life which leads to death.

Our only help and hope is to accept Jesus way of salvation

Many regarded the message of Jesus as offensive, and still do today, but we need to set aside our own 'childish wisdom', stop trying to do things our way and instead accept God's plan for salvation through Christ alone.

An invitation to walk God's way with it's provision

Our natural inclination is to take the easy way, but that is the way of sin and death. Jesus calls us to follow him in His narrow way which leads to life. He has and will supply all our needs.

God's way and escalating consequences

The centrality of Scripture

Scripture is the key to our faith. Without it, we cannot know or understand the loving nature of God and His plan for our salvation. If we pick and choose what we believe, the church is finished. A warning about the danger of heresy in the Episcopal church.

People through history have made gods in their own image, but the Living God is utterly different to these idols.  After Israel had trampled on the first covenant, God offered a new covenant with mercy, forgiveness and love in exchange for repentance.
