St. Martha's THIS SUNDAY

Exciting changes to Children's church at PGW
Introducing St. Martha's children's church plant!"

Introducing St. Martha’s:

We have a new and exciting development for children ages K – 5th grade at our 9:00 Sunday morning service. In prior years, these children attended a service called Children’s Church. However, starting in September 2020, Prince George Winyah is “planting a new church” called St. Martha’s at the 9:00 Sunday morning service for children in K – 5th grade. St. Martha’s is the name for a new and improved version of Children’s Church that will be held in the Bourne Building next to our historic church sanctuary building.

Parents - please note the following important changes which take place on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020:

  • parents will bring their children with them to the historic church sanctuary

  • their children will be checked in with St. Martha’s leaders before the 9:00 church service starts

  • children will sit with their family as the 9:00 service begins

  • just after the collect of the day the children will follow the crucifer out of the building, Gary will announce that children should gather at the back of the church so St. Martha’s leaders can escort them over next door to the Bourne Building

  • these children will attend a special service designed just for them called St. Martha’s

  • children will then be brought back over to the main church building to rejoin their family at the Passing of the Peace.

The vision is for children to See, Hear, Feel, and Know the love of Jesus during their St. Martha’s service. The service will feature four main pieces, all of which are designed to instill this vision: Liturgy, Teaching, Prayer, and Music. Children will see God’s Word and the Anglican liturgy, hear teaching and sing together, feel God’s love through activities and prayer, and grow in their knowledge of the Gospel.

St. Martha’s is named after Martha of Bethany, a character we meet in the Gospels. Our Prayer Book calls her a Companion of Jesus, and we hope St. Martha’s is a place where kids become friends with Jesus like she was. Please pray with us for this exciting new time in the life of our church!
