A Call to Prayer

Dear Prince George Family and Friends,

After watching the news of protests violent and non-violent and praying for peace for this nation the Lord has prompted me to invite our church to “do something.”

One of the things the world most often pokes fun at and makes disparaging remarks about is our first natural response to tragedy or suffering. The world often pits prayer against “doing something”, but we know that prayer actually is “doing something”: it asks God Himself to intervene in the world He loves and changes what we can’t. The Body of Christ’s first response is always and should be prayer. The best way to accomplish that is through the reading and meditating on the promises of God found in His Holy Scripture.

Beginning next Monday, June 15th at 5 pm and continuing every day through Friday I am inviting up to 70 people to join me in the Sanctuary to pray the Psalms. We will pray 30 Psalms each day and then sit and meditate for as long as people desire and leave in silence. We may also add some prayers into this time together as the Lord prompts us.

If you would like to join me any or all of those evenings, please sign up through Realm. If you are not currently connected through Realm email Hosanna at hosanna@pgwinyah.org or call her at the church office.

Also, if you would like to read a Psalm or two please come prepared to read and we will take turns at the Lectern. Please continue to abide by the safety guidelines approved by the Vestry and Diocese: masks, six-foot separation, and sitting only in designated pews. Anyone reading may remove their mask to read.

I am certain that the Lord will speak to many if not all of us as to what we are “to do” next to heal this country. In the meanwhile, the next right thing for us is always to gather, pray, and read God’s word.

I love you all and I am grateful to be your Rector,

The Rev Gary N. Beson II
