How ADOSC and the Diocese of Maseno South brought GrandCamp to Kenya, igniting a movement of Biblical discipleship across generations

This July, six members of Prince George Winyah Parish traveled to Falmouth, Antigua, to visit our sister parish, St. Paul’s Anglican Church (founded in 1672). What began as a bond forged during a time of tragedy in 2023—when beloved PGW member Lisa Collins passed away in Antigua—has blossomed into a vibrant, Holy Spirit-led partnership.

Our team had the joy of seeing how God is growing the seeds planted over the last year:

• Thursday Music Club: Youth Minister Brett Kucera was thrilled to find that the instruments gifted last fall weren't gathering dust—they were making joyful noise! The children learned so quickly that they joined Brett to lead worship on Sunday, concluding with a lively rendition of Bob Marley’s “One Love.” The team was blessed to donate another guitar and ukulele to keep the music growing.
• Vacation Bible School: Children’s Minister Tracy Morris, along with Kellee Krofka, Judy Gilchrist, and St. Paul’s leader Dinah Bailey, led about 25 children in a week filled with crafts, games, and the Gospel. Tracy shared that she plainly "saw the face of Jesus" in the children, and the team is already eager to return next year!
• The Gospel Challenge: Rev. Ramsey Gilchrist and Danny Morgan shared the Gospel Challenge with the men of St. Paul’s. While local leaders expected around eight men to show up, 22 attended! Local lay leader Richard Sherman shared, “I’ve never seen so many men in our church! This shows me that they are hungry for the Gospel.”
• Support for Fr. Ral: The team witnessed the incredible leadership of St. Paul's rector, Rev. Raliville "Ral" Christian. Thanks to scholarship support and generous contributions from PGW’s Inklings book club, Fr. Ral begins his Master of Divinity studies through Trinity Anglican Seminary this September!

Before heading home, the Antigua children gave the team a tear-filled farewell with a beautiful song performance.

Please join the Rector this Sunday at 10:15 am for the annual Prince George Winyah Vision Sunday. Gary has taken ideas and prayers from the staff, vestry, and his own personal retreat to provide a vision for the congregation as the way forward while we wait for the completion of the buildings and renovated space for ministry.

The presentation titled New Wine in New Wineskins will offer ways to live out the vision From Him - Through Us - To the World in these in between times. This is an exciting chapter for Prince George Winyah as we continue to welcome more new members and families. It's also a time of preparation and planning for the continued blessings God has for this sacred place.

The Coffee Cafe will provide light refreshments for our gathering. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Prior to our recent mission trip to Antigua, I asked Ryan and Sue to pray for me since I had no idea what I would be able to contribute. I don't play instruments and have no experience working with children at VBS. I stepped out on faith and trusted God to guide me, and He did.

The love and fellowship we shared with our brothers and sisters in Christ is difficult to describe. We broke bread together, laughed together, worshipped together and shared stories about our families. They were some of the kindest, most loving people I ever have encountered, and I felt incredibly blessed spending all that time with them.

In reflection, it is my belief that God uses mission trips to bless and comfort us even as we seek to do the same for others. No skill required!

Fifty Christmas tags—each with a child’s name, photo, and wish list—are available for adoption. The children range from toddlers to teens (ages 2–17), and a few young adults with physical or intellectual disabilities (ages 18–25) also call the Lamb Institute home. As Tracy Morris, Director of PGW’s Children’s Ministry, shares, these older residents are lovingly cared for by the Tias (“aunts” in Spanish), and long‑term arrangements are in place to support them throughout their lives.

Thanks to the generosity of the PGW Women and the Historic Tours, Tracy has already purchased Christmas stockings for each child. Church members are asked to return the stocking gifts to Tracy’s Christian Education classroom (3–7 year olds) in the Bourne Building by September 1.

If shopping isn’t your preference, you may also make a financial donation. These contributions help purchase gifts for any unclaimed tags and assist with shipping costs.

In September, Tracy will personally deliver the filled stockings to the children during PGW’s upcoming mission trip—your kindness will be placed directly into their hands.

Angel Tree cards will be available every Sunday in August on the Visitors’ Welcome Table at the front of the church. We encourage you to stop by, choose a child, and help us share Christ’s love in a tangible way.
