Seeds of Faith & Friendship: Our Mission Trip to Antigua
This July, six members of Prince George Winyah Parish traveled to Falmouth, Antigua, to visit our sister parish, St. Paul’s Anglican Church (founded in 1672). What began as a bond forged during a time of tragedy in 2023—when beloved PGW member Lisa Collins passed away in Antigua—has blossomed into a vibrant, Holy Spirit-led partnership.
Our team had the joy of seeing how God is growing the seeds planted over the last year:
- Thursday Music Club: Youth Minister Brett Kucera was thrilled to find that the instruments gifted last fall weren't gathering dust—they were making joyful noise! The children learned so quickly that they joined Brett to lead worship on Sunday, concluding with a lively rendition of Bob Marley’s “One Love.” The team was blessed to donate another guitar and ukulele to keep the music growing.
- Vacation Bible School: Children’s Minister Tracy Morris, along with Kellee Krofka, Judy Gilchrist, and St. Paul’s leader Dinah Bailey, led about 25 children in a week filled with crafts, games, and the Gospel. Tracy shared that she plainly "saw the face of Jesus" in the children, and the team is already eager to return next year!
- The Gospel Challenge: Rev. Ramsey Gilchrist and Danny Morgan shared the Gospel Challenge with the men of St. Paul’s. While local leaders expected around eight men to show up, 22 attended! Local lay leader Richard Sherman shared, “I’ve never seen so many men in our church! This shows me that they are hungry for the Gospel.”
- Support for Fr. Ral: The team witnessed the incredible leadership of St. Paul's rector, Rev. Raliville "Ral" Christian. Thanks to scholarship support and generous contributions from PGW’s Inklings book club, Fr. Ral begins his Master of Divinity studies through Trinity Anglican Seminary this September!
Before heading home, the Antigua children gave the team a tear-filled farewell with a beautiful song performance.
