I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am an honorary Cajun, which means I like crawfish and have web feet, which are helpful in getting around the bayous. I graduated from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers), Capernwray Bible School in England, and Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA.
Judy and I met in college and got married during our Junior year. We are looking forward to celebrating our 53rd wedding anniversary in August. We have one daughter and three grandchildren.
Before my ordination, I worked for 25 years with the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., and for eight of those years served as the chaplain on the Senior PGA Tour, now the Champions Tour. Upon graduation from Seminary in 2002, I was ordained a deacon and later that year a priest. I served for one year as the Assistant Rector of the St. James Episcopal Church in Mt. Vernon, VA, and then accepted a call to serve as an Associate Rector of the Falls Church in Falls Church, VA. Judy and I moved to Pawleys Island in 2010.
