"Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away." 1 Peter 5: 2-4
Shepherd Groups
At Prince George Winyah, we believe that caring for one another is a vital part of being the body of Christ. As our church family grows, Shepherd Groups help keep our community connected through fellowship, encouragement, and support.
There are 21 neighborhood-based Shepherd Groups, each led by a designated shepherd who coordinates care within the group. These groups serve one another during times of new birth, illness, recovery, grief, or other needs, often providing meals, cards, visits, or phone calls as acts of love and service.
In addition to providing care, Shepherd Groups gather at least twice a year in informal settings, whether it’s an oyster roast, backyard drop-in, ballgame, or beach outing. These gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to build friendships, welcome newcomers, and strengthen the bonds of our growing parish family.
If you’d like to get involved or help organize your group, please contact Sue Beson for more information.
