Daystar Bible Church Mission in The Abacos Islands, Bahamas
Several members of Prince George Winyah Parish in Georgetown, SC have vacationed over the years in The Abacos Islands. On September 1, 2019 Hurricane Dorian, a category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 185 mph ravaged the island and much of the Abacos still does not have power or other basic services. On a recent visit to Marsh Harbor, members of PGW learned that most Churches were either badly damaged or wiped off the map. According to locals, those Churches will never come back. The mission to restore Daystar Bible Church will provide a beacon of light to a broken and hurting community of fellow Christians in addition to their ability to witness and share the love of Christ to those locals who are living a life without a saving relationship with Jesus.
Once this Church is physically restored, we feel called to partner and send mission groups down to begin to serve alongside Pastor Edwards and his people. To build relationships, carry out vacation Bible schools for the children, serve food to the needy, restore homes in the area, etc. All of this can be done using Daystar as a base camp to serve the community in whatever ways God calls. Please pray about supporting this great cause for our Christian brothers and sisters in need. The goal is $150,000. Funds collected will be distributed directly by the Prince George Winyah Mission Team, and will not be turned over to any third parties who are not directly accountable to our mission.
